also men really don’t go through anything re: patriarchy that women don’t?? everyone loves to cite ad nauseum how men aren’t allowed to display their emotions, they have to bottle everything up, that’s harmful to them, etc. etc. but uh??? since when are women allowed to show our emotions? since when are women allowed to own or put voice to our experiences in any way without being stifled, silenced, called names, professionally or personally penalised? since when have women been allowed to exist emotionally without facing violence for it?

the myth that women are just naturally more emotional (by which is meant: hysterical, unreliable, unstable) is used to discredit, pathologise, and blame women. the people who have to clean up after the effects of this idea on men, the people who have to perform emotional labour that men never learnt how to perform for themselves, the people who have to bear the brunt of men’s emotional immaturity and abuse are women. it was planned that way. so no, I don’t give a shit about men
