It’s so important that asian art, outside of museums, gets focused on. In America we don’t really have a music like rap or jazz, or a street art like graffiti, and its hard to latch onto a voice that has the same dreams and struggles that you do.
So this is so important to me - I am a Black woman who also has Korean and Japanese descent (amongst other things) and I spent a few years growing up in South Korea as well as many, many summers in the cities of Seoul and Incheon. For mixed-race kids - especially those with Black heritage - it can be so hard to be accepted in your own town, even if you were born and raised there! This art is so incredible.
