I went 7 years without a paying job. 7 fucking years, grinding it out on the job hunt with no answers. Making music with no money behind me. I dropped 2 mixtapes, 3 EPs, and an album with no bread. I got featured on 2dopeboyz, Complex, HipHopDX, AllHipHop, MTV, XXL, Sway In The Morning, had my music discovered by DJ Premier, and more. I performed at SXSW and A3C multiple times. No money. All while jobhunting. All while helping to raise my daughter and help my father get back to good health after suffering from a stroke. And yesterday, I got hired for a job that’s paying me $20/hour, 40 hours a week. Never give up. You gonna go through some shit. You’re gonna have people that don’t believe in you. You’re gonna have family criticize you. You’re gonna have relationships end because they don’t see your worth in the midst of your struggles. Then shit is gonna get way better.
